ECO-MATEUS

MINI SCHOOL OF INNOVATION

6, 7 and 8 July 2020

How to innovate in a world in quick transformation? What challenges has the new reality brought to the agricultural and food industries? What is the difference today between what is normal and what is radical? Alfons Cornella, an innovation specialist at the Institute of Next in Barcelona, returns to Vila Real for the Mini-School of Innovation, an initiative of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto-Douro and the Casa de Mateus Foundation, with the support of the Millenium BCP Foundation, which is part of the Eco-Mateus programme. This time on a virtual platform, we present three workshops to immerse yourself in an environment of innovation.

Event: Mini-School of Innovation
Seminar: How to innovate without Google?
Speaker: Alfons Cornella
Date and time: 6 July | 17h30
Place: Casa de Mateus | Mateus online

How far does innovation go? What do we learn about it? Does it only consist of creativity? What clearly works and what doesn’t? From the experience built on more than 120 projects with companies and organizations of all kinds and in all sectors over 25 years, carried out from Infonomy and the Institute of Next, Alfons Cornella has written an Innovation Manual for professionals who want to learn more about how to innovate. In this session, the author’s main learning achievements will be presented in summary form. Participants will receive the book and an online selection of materials with which they can continue their work of developing their professional skills in innovation.

* Registration for this workshop is subject to prior acquisition of the innovation manual How to innovate without being Google?, by Alfons Cornella, worth 23.99 euros. Register now and receive the manual at your home.

Event: Mini-School of Innovation
Seminar: Agriculture and Food: opportunities in a critical sector
Speaker: Alfons Cornella
Date and time: 7 July | 17h30
Place: Casa de Mateus | Mateus online

Despite the lack of attention with which agriculture has been viewed by the new technology and innovation forums, it is very possible that advances in the agri-food sector will become an issue of the utmost importance over the next few years, given the planet’s need to feed 9 billion people in 2050. To all this will be added the so-called Precision Agriculture, which will unleash a lot of technology, in the form of sensors, satellites, big data, drones and autonomous robots, so that each square meter of cultivation can be treated individually, bringing to each plant the exact resources it needs at each moment. Indispensable for researchers, professionals and, above all, entrepreneurs in the sector dedicated to finding new ways of creating value.

Event: Mini-School of Innovation
Seminar: Radical #7 | Celebrating curiosity
Speaker: Alfons Cornella
Date and time: 8 July |17h30
Place: Casa de Mateus | Mateus online

As in recent years, but now online, Alfons Cornella shares his Radical #7 conference with the audience in Vila Real. This time, the theme is Celebrating Curiosity, reminding us that today, more than ever, we must claim our need to ask questions. In discussion, the dogma of efficiency and its overcoming through a paradigm of adaptation to change, the emphasis on quality of work and new business models focused on the hybridization of concepts, science, technological development and investment in R&D… Central themes at a time when the difference between what is normal and what is radical has been reduced to almost nothing and it is decisive that we are able to build a new version of ourselves.
