Since 1973 the Director-delegate of the Casa de Mateus Foundation has been D. Fernando de Sousa Botelho Albuquerque, son of D. Francisco, who started on December 3, 1977, with the cycle "Culture in Dialogue", the activities of the Foundation.
The solemn session of delivery the D. Diniz Prize, presided by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Prof. Dr. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, will take place on Sunday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m., at the Casa de Mateus.
Katia Guerreiro offers a concert, at 19h30, in honor of Vasco Graça Moura (1942-2014), an indefatigable collaborator of the Foundation and President of the Prémio D. Diniz Jury from its institution in 1981 until 2012.
The Casa de Mateus was built in the first half of the 18th century by António José Botelho Mourão, 3rd Morgado de Mateus. This replaced the former family house which had stood on the site since the beginning of the 17th century. In 1910, it was classified as a National Monument.
On May 30, 2017, in the morning, between 9am and 2pm, the Casa de Mateus will be closed to the public.
